Original Constructivist Style Photographs

Here are my original constructivist style photographs. I think they work well as photographs but don't particularly answer the brief. I think I will choose a more constructivist subject such as a building.

Light Inspired Photographs

This weeks photography brief asked us to take 6 photographs which light as the key component. I based my photographs on film noir as it heavily uses light and probably more importantly shadows to visually tell the story. Here are my 6 photographs:

Composition Brief II

For my second photography brief this year, we were asked to take 6 photographs that explored a similar theme or place while also showing this similarity through composition and the way I take the photograph. My subject was the rooms in my flat in Belfast and compositionally I took them all portrait showing the corner of the door to create that series of photographs that was asked for. Below are my submissions:

Rock Paper Scissor Design

Today, I came up with a name for our group that will make the misfit exhibition. That name is 'Rock Paper Scissor Design'. I personally think it is a really good name for a design group who specialise in handmade design. Over the next couple of weeks I will be designing a logo for this name and also for the misfits exhibition.

Hand Craft Ideas

Seeing this video you can see to how it would relate to hand craft and I also feel that there is an initial idea here to how my group could exhibit our work.

Hand Drawn Typography

One of the initial concepts for my group's project is Hand Drawn. Doing research on design company Tomato's website (www.tomato.com) I found this video of typographic work they did for Quantum of Solace:

Typography Designer 2 - Jason Smith

Jason Smith is the founder of London based type design company FontSmith.  It was dificult to find a designer that work soely as a typographer in Northern Ireland but I believe that Jason Smith originates or his parents originate from the North.  I've went completely the opposite way from my first choice as Smith's fonts are very clear, smooth and contemporary.  Jason Smith's website is www.fontsmith.com.

Typography Designer 1 - David Carson

David Carson is a world renowned American typographer.  I'm a big fan of his work, particaularly that found in the 90's music magazine raygun.  The magazine had a very grungy feel to it which related to the rising grunge scene in music.  The typography is very abstract and Carson has sometimes made the typography in-legible but I feel that it still communicates very well as a piece of design.
